Today, when I tried to open my garage door, it wouldn't open. Upon checking, I saw that the spring was broken. I searched Craigslist, and Don's ad was the first one that appeared. I called him, and within a few minutes, he returned my call.

After explaining the situation, he gave me a very reasonable price. I had never met him before, but since I was short on time and his offer was great, I decided to go ahead with the repair.

Don did a fantastic job! I'm not sure how difficult this type of repair is, but it's definitely not a typical DIY project. He replaced the spring quickly, finishing in less than an hour, and now my garage door works perfectly. I'm very happy with the service and highly recommend him!

Don came out the same day to fix cables that had come unspooled on both pulleys, which de-tensioned the spring. Don was friendly and courteous. He had everything put back together in under an hour. He actually left the door in better condition than it had been before the unspooling. He fixed the bolts that secure the pulleys to the torsion bar, lubed up hinges and wheels, and made sure the spring was wound to the right point to balance the door (it now stays put mid-open if opened manually and the opener is doing less work in normal operation). The price was reasonable, and I liked that I was scheduling with the person doing the work directly instead of a middle-man dispatch agency. Would definitely use GDH/Don again (although hopefully don't need to too soon).

Don't waste your time or money with any other garage service provider. Don is honest, provides quotes upfront, and does great work. All the rest are playing deceptive, time-consuming estimate games I've found.
